Cork is an impermeable, buoyant material, Cork is composed of suberin, a hydrophobic substance, and because of its impermeability, buoyancy, elasticity and fire resistance, it is used in a variety of products, the most commonly used in wine bottles. For a class activity we were required to make a product from used, I decided to make a solar light that floats in the pool. The light itself recharges during the day and as cork is buoyant it floats easily. The second idea that I had using Cork was conceded cover that encloses around an electrical junction where wires connect, as cork is fire resistance I thought it would be a good idea and not as costly.
